Garrett's 11th birthday

As many of you know, our son Garrett turned 11 last week, on the 18th. We celebrated with a goof-off family day and his favorite cake - what we like to call "Mammy's Chocolate Cake". This cake is a wonderful cake, made famous by "Mammy", Kevin's grandmother, and really deserves a separate post all to itself. So, more on that later. After the goof-off day Garrett had a party with about 10 friends. They all came to our house after school, ate hamburgers, played every game imaginable with balls and bats in our backyard until we whisked them off to a park for some soccer action. After several soccer games, 10 sweaty boys climbed back in our van and returned to our house for cupcakes and cokes. We've included some pictures of the fun day.

Before I close, I just want to say a little about Garrett. He is a sweet, tender-hearted guy with a heart for prayer and beautiful eyelashes. He loves soccer, watching sports and movies and spending time with friends and family. He is a great big brother to Anderson, and somewhat of a pest to his sisters (I'm pretty sure this is normal, remembering my own experience with my brother). Garrett has been struggling a bit in school this year, since this is his first year with various teachers and lots of tests. Please pray for him to finish out the year strong. We are really proud of Garrett and the way he represents Christ and our family.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Bronwyn,

My heart-felt congratulations on your baptism. We are all so proud of you.

Garrett,

It sounds like you had a fabulous birthday. I hope you live to the glory of God 10 times 11.

Bronwyn...I could use a little help with my blog, too, so when you come to the states, look me up. :>)

We're happy to see that you had a good birthday, but sorry we couldn't have been there to celebrate with you.

I'll take that chocolate cake recipe now, please.
