Food Tour-Part 3

Today we took Bronwyn to one of her (and our) most favorite places to eat as she continues to work through her list of "favorite places I'd like to eat before I go to college and don't get to eat this kind of food again" tour.

Today's choice is a place Matt introduced me to about 5 years ago and it's been a fixture for our family ever since.

It's a little restaurant called Tempero but we actually call it Paulinho's (little Paul). Why? Because that's the name of the owner and chef.

Here's what it looks like.

It's just a small, two story, green building. Nothing super fancy about it except the food. It's some of the best in the city.

Every day they change the main part of the meals up a little bit. Chicken one day, fish the next, etc. You pay R$11 (about $6 U.S.) and you get all the vegetables, steak, pasta, fruit and dessert you can eat. It's a great deal. When we first started going there Paulinho charged R$6.50. At that time it only cost around $2 (U.S.) to eat there. Stupid inflation.

We don't get to go as much as we used to (stupid inflation and stupid drop in the value of the dollar) but we knew Bronwyn would have Paulinho's on her list.  It was a win-win for all of us because we all love it.

The kids cheer, literally, whenever we pick them up from school and tell them we are going to Paulinho's to eat lunch.

Here's a picture of Bronwyn with Paulinho and his wife Karen.

We love these guys.

I actually lost Carys during lunch today. We were eating upstairs and I looked around and she was gone. We all thought she had gone down to get dessert but she didn't come back up. I went to check on her and found her just hanging out with Paulinho while he was making pasta. They were having a big conversation.

He and Karen are very special people. They always have a smile on their faces.

When Paulinho found out that Bronwyn is moving to the states next week he made me promise (like physically not letting me leave the restaurant until I promised kind of a promise) to bring her back before she goes so they could give her a going away present.

He also said that next week's lunch was on him.

I guess we'll have to suffer through one more lunch there before Bronwyn gets on the plane. But we'll do it because we love her.

Oh No! Now we're talking about our favorite places. Awe, I miss the food more than anything.
Benay, You must teach me how to make Feijoada in the states. We are missing some key ingredients.
