On Sunday night our favorite soccer team played.
Our winter nights have arrived and we knew it was going to be cold that night down by the river.
No one wanted to go. No one except Anderson.
About an hour and a half before game time I asked if anyone else wanted to go with us. No takers.
Anderson then started in on Bronwyn. Reminding her that this was going to be the last time she would be able to get to go to a game with him for the next year. Our Brasilian championship stops for a month while the World Cup (starting this Friday) goes on and then Bronwyn leaves for the states about a week after the Cup.
No deal. She wasn't budging.
He told her how much it would mean to him if she went.
"No" she said, "too cold."
He would not give up. He was relentless.
"No" she said, "Let's just listen to it on the radio."
Finally, amid sniffs of quase-fake-crying, he told her that "Brothers (sniff, sniff) and sisters (sniff, sniff) are supposed to love each other."
The stubborn gene in our kids comes from me. The gracious, give-in to sad puppy dog faces gene in our kids comes from Benay. Bronwyn is blessed with the mom gene.
She relented.
Anderson FLIPPED OUT. He ran through the house yelling and screaming.
So we bundled up and set out for the game.
The cold, along with the fact that our team stinks right now, meant not too many fans at the game. That meant we could sit almost anywhere we wanted.
The game started and we weren't that cold. Everyone was happy.
They hung out at halftime and tried to win a prize together.
But then it got cold in the second half and the big sister wasn't that excited about being there. Can you tell?
But it all turned out good for her as we got to eat our favorite snack after the game. Meat on a stick. Bronwyn is most definitely a carnivore.
By the way, for those Inter fans, we tied. No highlights.....too painful. Anderson enjoyed his time with Bronwyn so much he didn't even have time to be mad about the tie game.
All in all we had a great time. We always do. Anderson thanked Bronwyn for going with us. It's a game he won't forget.
She really is a great big sister and Anderson is really going to miss her when she goes to college.
