Bernardo

As followers of Christ, we try to teach our kids to not judge people based on skin color, age, sex, and the list (unfortunately these days) can go on and on. But we have to admit, when Anderson asked if he could have a friend home from school this week we were a little hesitant. But trying to live our lives the way Christ would have us to forced us to take a deep look at ourselves and realize that we were judging this young man before he ever came into our home. We realized we had sinned and we told Anderson he was more than welcome to invite his friend, Bernardo, to spend the night with us.

This is Bernardo:
Anderson had to take some panty hose to school the other day for a project. When I went to pick him up from school on Wednesday he had Bernardo over his shoulder. I was in the middle of a conversation with another parent about Anderson going to her daughter's house that day to eat lunch and I saw Bernardo and said, "COOL" to Anderson and told him to take him back into the classroom. About that time the teacher had come out as well and she and the mom both told me that I didn't understand. It was our day to take Bernardo home. Every student got to take him home for a day. The kids were very proud of their new friend as they had helped to build him from scratch. Panty hose skin, newspaper guts and he even had the school uniform on. So, after Anderson took Bernardo to eat lunch at his girlfriend's(Tatiana) house, he came home to our family.

We think he enjoyed his time here.

He got to eat Anderson's favorite breakfast of "cimannon" toast.
He got to watch Garrett play video games.
He hung out with Carys as well.
But, all good things must come to an end and soon it was time for him to go back to school.
Goodbye Bernardo. You were only with us for a short time but you stole a place in our heart. Our house is your house my friend and we hope you can come back sometime. We'll never forget how you always wore a smile.

Bernardo's hair is so shiny. What shampoo does his mommy use?
