Independence Day

Today is a holiday in Brasil. It is the Brasilian Independence Day. Here is a picture of French President Sarkozy with the Brasilian president Lula at a celebration parade this morning. Yes our president only has 4 fingers on that left hand. He lost his finger in an accident when he worked at an auto parts factory. Like anywhere in the world it's pretty typical here with politics. People either love or hate Lula. I have never heard anyone in our state say they love him.

Anyway, I found this link with a brief article of this important day in Brasilian history for anyone who might be interested in reading about it. There are also some pictures of an Independence Day parade included in the article as well as some videos of Brasilian music. Enjoy.
