Hall of Fame

We are home schooling Garrett and Carys while we are in the states.  It's hard for them to miss two months of school back home so we decided that on this trip we would end their school years (school year goes from Feb/Mar to Dec. in Brasil) as the teachers.

Benay asked if I would teach them American history.

Today we had a review of the material (slaves, Columbus, Indians, etc) before they took a test.

There was a question that asked who they thought showed more courage, the guys that sailed with Columbus or the guys who first went to the moon.

This conversation followed:

Garrett:  "The guys that went to the moon?  You mean like Neil Armstrong?"
Me:  "Right."
Garrett:  "He's in the hall of fame right?"
Me:  (long pause while trying not to laugh) "Hall of fame?  For astronauts?"
Garrett: "Yes."
Me: "That doesn't exist."
Garrett:  "Yes it does."
Me:  "I'm telling you it doesn't."
Garrett:  "Yes it does.  It's like actors and their hall of fame."
Me:  "Actors don't have a hall of fame either."
Garrett:  "I know they do.  I've seen it.  It's when they get all dressed up and stand on that red carpet."

I didn't think I would like teaching in home school but I'm starting to change my mind.  I'm learning lots of new things I never knew before.

Actually there is such a thing as the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame. It is located in Titusville, FL. And Yes! Neil is in the hall of fame. No should not be a home school teacher. But at least Garret got his smarts from his mother. This is Goober, signing off now!

Hello!
That first comment about the red carpet wasn't mine.
I'm starting to like the red color now but it's just because I miss you all.

Miss you all,
Grace
