Now the Final!

Inter played last night in the semifinals of our state championship. The state championship might not sound like a big deal but it is. Each state in Brasil has one. It's actually the first tournament of the year. It's a chance for very small teams to play against the big boys with the chance of being champions. Think Yankees versus lots of triple A, double A, and single A teams with each team having an equal chance to be the champion.

We played a game last night to see who would go to the final game of the tournament next week. There are two parts (or seasons) to the championship. The winner of the first part (which was our team) will play the winner of the second part to see who the champion is. If the same team wins both parts then they are the automatic champion. If we win next Sunday we will be the automatic champions of the championship.

Bronwyn, Ansley and I actually had tickets to the game but had to cancel when we got home from our church family's Easter retreat (more to come on that later) and I got sick. We had to settle for the highlights.

I normally share these videos for my dad and others who enjoy Inter. These highlights today however are dedicated to one of my best buds from college. Facebook got us back in touch with each other this week after 20+ years apart. These highlights are for him. Not because he actually likes soccer but because of this comment he shared with me this week, "Soccer is not a sport my friend...if it was intended to be, then God wouldn't have given us arms:-)" Enjoy your highlights MJ.
